Slick vs regular

A slick inner cable works even better! Elvedes produces both brake and brake inner cables, as well as the normal (regular) versions, also produced as slick. The rustproof slick inner cable, also called the pre-stretched inner cable, is hammered at the end of the production process to reveal the stretch. This creates an extra smooth (slick) surface. This post-production work has many advantages. Faster gear changes or more immediate braking. Because its stretches out of an inner cable, the system requires very little adjustment. The smooth surface helps the slick cable move through the outer cable with much less rubbing. Because the surface is almost round, with minimal grooves, there is an improved finish when using sealed cable caps (with a rubber seal). It means dirt can’t get into the outer cable and the system remains supple.
